September 8th, 2007 • Eva Amurri Named U.N Goodwill Ambassador

Susan Sarandon has spent much of her career campaigning for causes and helping those less fortunate.
Its seems the Oscar winner’s philanthropy and good will has rubbed off on her daughter. Eva Amurri, who has followed her mother’s lead and found a career in acting, has been named as a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations.
Amurri, 22, recently traveled to Nambia as part of the HERO initiative with the U.N. The star spent her time in Africa looking at schools and volunteering.
The Saved star painted dorm rooms and worked in an after-school camp with local children.
Amurri said, “Being in Namibia this past July and working with the kids has been such an enlightening experience and I’m looking forward to returning in the future.”
Amurri joins celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Geri Halliwell in her new role with the U.N.

I just came across this article at the NY Daily News Gossip section. I have no idea if there’s any truth to it but it is certainly be great if Eva has really been named a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Association of the USA!
Like mother, like daughter - to a point.
Rising actress Eva Amurri inherited her mom Susan Sarandon’s philanthropic streak. After a trip to Africa earlier this summer, she has just been named a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Association of the USA.
But other parts of the legacy, not so much.

Exciting news! Eva has informed me that The Education of Charlie Banks will see its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, which takes place April 25 - May 6, 2007. She has also signed up for a new movie, The Middle of Nowhere, which will be directed by John Stockwell. “We will begin shooting in June. It’s a really great coming of age story, independently financed, and I’m excited to have a project starting when I graduate from school!”, she says.
Concratulations for the new role, Eva! We’re very excited!
Ms. Amurri has also made several appearances at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City and she is looking absolutely gorgeous. Click below for the pictures.
